WOT Protection Extends to Google Chrome

WOT (Web of Trust) is an online security community and browser add-on that helps users stay safe on the web. It has over 5 million sites rated with partnerships with companies like Panda Security.

This excellent security add-on was previously only available to users of Internet Explorer and Firefox. However, it has recently announced in the blog that a new Google Chrome extension is now available.

I decided to give this new add-on a try for myself. It requires the latest development build of Google Chrome 4.0. At the current moment, the familiar WOT icon is located inside a toolstrip bar at the bottom, which is similar to other early Chrome extensions.

It includes just about all the features of the Firefox add-on, including warning when you visit a Red rated site.

They have plans to move the button to the top toolbar rather than a toolstrip on the bottom.

It’s a good add-on BTW. Will allow to gain some more users from IE and Firefox for sure.

      Hi Fernando,

I’ve been using WOT for almost 2 years now and it has definitely saved me many times from dangerous sites. I have it installed on Firefox, IE, and Chrome with the WOT Bookmarklet for Opera and Safari.
