Do you need to host images online? Tired of the restrictions of various third party image hosting services? Why not start your own?
There are numerous different image hosting scripts available online. One interesting and relatively new script I was introduced to is ImageNuke.
After uploading the images, ImageNuke presents the user with options to add a description to the images. The images are then immediately ready for sharing.
Each image page contains some basic statistics (views and bandwidth) along with sharing buttons and HTML/BB code.
Unfortunately, this script isn’t free. It costs a one-time fee of $49, which is a licensed for unlimited domains and includes all future upgrades and one year of support.
Since this script is entirely self-hosted and unencrypted, you have full control over it and can customize it any way you want, including adding your own features. This allows you to potentially run your own image hosting service to compete with the existing ones.
ImageNuke is still very new but it shows a lot of potential so far and the team behind it is actively developing new features.
What do you think of ImageNuke? Have a different self-hosted image hosting script you would like to recommend? Share with us in the comments.
