Are you using Google Sites? Ever wanted to migrate to full featured web hosting without the limitations of basic site builders but didn’t want to leave Google? Well, now you can because in an exclusive interview, Google has announced that they are planning to launch their own web hosting services.
This is just another step Google’s taking to dominate the entire internet. By going into web hosting and servers, it will be able to power websites worldwide, not only through scripts on the client end, but everything server side as well.
What makes this unique from other web hosting services is that their servers are running Google’s very own GWS (Google Web Server) rather than the typical Apache. And since it’s Google, I expect the reliability to be top notch.
Google also promises a few special surprise features that are “unheard of in the web hosting industry”.
Of course, this might cause some concern among those worried about online privacy. After all, there have been many questions about Google’s privacy practices and there will be without a doubt some hidden tracking involved with this new service.
Google plans to publicly launch this new service on April 31, 2011. The company will begin inviting early preview users starting next week. You can sign up to be a beta user here.
