Do you use Blogger (Blogspot)? Have you ever wanted to have those Read More links you see on WordPress blogs without having to modify your theme code? Well, now Google has finally added one of the most requested features. Of course, many have already had them because they modified the theme’s source code, however, no more need to do anything related to coding.
Google announced 2 days ago that Read More links are now available as part of Blogger’s 10th Birthday Celebration. Learn more here.
However, it is not immediately available just yet. You have to manually enable the new post editor. This can be done in one of two ways:
- In Blogger, click on Settings. On the Basic section (should be default after clicking Settings), scroll down to Global Settings and select Updated Editor.
- Go to Blogger in Draft, which is like Blogger’s version of Google Labs.
After that, you will notice a new editor toolbar which looks something like the following in the Visual Editor.
If you prefer editing in HTML, the code would be <!– more –>, similar to WordPress. This new feature is called Jump Breaks.
To edit the Read More link, go to Layout and then Edit the Blog Posts section.
Now if have a highly customized template, this might not work right away. These instructions show how to enable the feature on your theme.
If you are a Blogger user, what do you think of this new feature? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
