Blogger Finally Welcomes Static Pages

BloggerDo you use Blogger? My earlier comparison between Blogger and WordPress showed that Blogger did not support static pages. This was useful for creating, for example, a ‘Contact Us’ page or an ‘About Us’ page.  To create static pages in Blogger, users usually create a post and change the publish date to something really old.

Well, it looks like the Google Team at Blogger listened and implemented one of the top requested features.

That’s right. Pages are here!

Blogger Pages

Creating a page is like creating a new post

There is a limit of 10 pages at the moment. So how do you activate this feature?

Like all new Blogger features, its available for Blogger in Draft. So head on over to draft.blogger.com and you will find a new link next to ‘Edit Posts’ named ‘Edit Pages’. The rest is straightforward.

After publishing your first page, Blogger will ask where you want the page menu gadget to be placed, on the sidebar or as a top navigation menu.

Blogger Page Gadget

A new gadget lets you create a navigation menu for pages

Blogger Nav Menu

Please note that not all themes support the horizontal navigation menu gadget if no page element slot if provided. Learn more about how to implement this into your theme here.

Page List Element

Currently, all pages seem to have a permalink structure of ‘/p/permalink-here.html‘.

This is a great addition to Blogger. What do you think of this new feature? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

They disabled this for a few moments. Checked this morning and it’s now working again. I think this is great, now my privacy policy is a part of my blog. Super, thank you for the tip.
