Mozilla has recently introduced their Plugin Check site to allow users to automatically check for outdated plugins. Outdated plugins can increase the risk for the system being infected by malware since updates often fix security issues as well as bug fixes.
Adobe has released Adobe Flash Player 10.0.42.34 on December 8. The version I currently have is 10.0.32.0, which is the previous version. However, when I visited the Plugin Check site last week, it says everything was up to date. I visited again this week and the latest version shown is still 10.0.32.0.

The page says my Adobe Flash Player is up to date.
I clicked on the green “Up to Date” button to the official Adobe Flash site.

The official Adobe Flash Player website shows a newer version than the one shown at Mozilla Plugin Check.
It has been a few weeks since 10.0 r42 was released, but Mozilla still reports 10.0 r32 as the latest version until I update to 10.0 r42. Only after updating does the site reported 10.0.42.34.

I updated my Flash Player and the Plugin Check site still says it is Up to Date.
The purpose of the Plugin Check is to alert users of out of date plugins. Flash Player is one of the most popular plugins and outdated versions of Flash Player places systems vulnerable to malware.
This feature is built into Firefox 3.6 but it doesn’t seem to be updated itself, so how effective is this?
Have you not updated to the latest Adobe Flash Player yet? Are you experiencing the same issues? Leave your thoughts about this in the comments.
