Is Google redesigning their home page and search results? Don’t worry, its still a simple, clean, and white interface we all love.
According to Blogoscoped, typing in a line of Javascript into the URL bar when at google.com reveals a new Google prototype. Go to google.com. Then, remove everything from your URL bar replacing it with just the following:
javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com");
Refresh the page and you may see something like this. I did not have to sign out for this to work.

The new Google Homepage?
The search results page also got a facelift.

The search results page features a an always visible sidebar with smooth scrolling letting you choose to search Everything or just certain areas. The Google options are also shown.
All the options on the always visible sidebar allow you to search that area however the results come out on the same page without going to their official subdomains, except for Images and Maps.

Search Google News without going to news.google.com.
Is this working for you? What do you think of the new redesign?
Personally, I like this prototype and can’t wait to see what Google does next as long as it keeps the simplicity and clean white interface.

Wow, this little trick really works. I got to the redesigned Google page, and it is quite awesome. The Logo lost the stark shadow effects, instead reverting to clean, soft palette colors. Buttons have become a clean blue, and the sidebar is a very nice touch. They haven’t redesigned the Images search though. Oh well. This new Google looks very nice.

All well and good, but remember that this wastes a lot of energy. See http://blackle.com/ for awesomer stuff.
Ahh yes. I like the modified dark versions even better. Still simple yet greener.
Oh yeah. Once I’ve gone redesigned, I can’t go back. Both literally and figuratively.
The new version is so much awesomer than the old one that I am reluctant to go back.
And I CAN’T go back. Is there any way to switch back?
Yes, to go back, delete the google.com cookie named PREF.
